Nationals Suffer 5-3 Loss to Mets The New York Mets beat the Washington Nationals, 5-3. New York pitcher and Toutle, Washington, native Jackson Cox led the way. The Mets saw their record improve to 71-66. Francisco Alvarez was 1-3 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs for New York. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Alvarez, who is tied for 10th in the NL in home runs with 26, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Washington hurler Caleb Thielbar, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Mets a 3-2 lead. "When you win, you always have confidence," said New York skipper Carlos Mendoza. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
