August's Outstanding NL Rookie Announced

August was a special time for San Diego hurler, David Davalillo. It was such an outstanding month that the National League named him the league's #1 newcomer and awarded him the Rookie of the Month trophy.

American League officials announced today that Jedixson Paez was awarded August's Rookie of the Month trophy.
The pitcher for Los Angeles registered a 4.41 ERA in 6 starts, logging a 4-2 record and 25 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.
This year, Paez has made 6 starts, thrown 32.2 innings, fanned 25 batters and walked 8. His won-lost record is 4-2 with a 4.41 ERA.

Megill Grabs NL Top Pitcher Trophy

In August, the best pitcher in the National League was a reliever, thanks to some impressive stats Trevor Megill put up coming out of the bullpen.
The Milwaukee bullpen ace stood out with 11 saves in 13 relief appearances, a 1-0 won-lost mark and 0.00 ERA. He worked 12.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, struck out 18 and walked 6.
Thus far this year, Megill has picked up 32 saves. He has also compiled a 3-4 won-lost mark with a 1.51 ERA and in 47.2 innings fanned 60.
